This is recorded in almost all instances as being scoreless when the referee abandoned the match, however Trevor Todd sent the following;

We were playing them at Plough Lane in a mid-week League match. The rains just fell down, it poured and the referee actually abandoned the game. Now, every record I've seen of that instance records the score as 0-0 at the time of abandonment ... but this is wrong.

Jim Lewis had actually put the Avenue 1-0 up but this goal seems to have disappeared into the ether. We replayed the game on the following evening and came out victors 3-1 with 2 goals from Terry Dennington who must have played for just about every amateur club in London - including Walthamstow!
