Came to prominence locally as a young centre-forward for Wimbledon Central Old Boys, joining the Dons as they rebuilt after their disastrous 1932/33 season. Only played a single game in 1933/34 but was a regular goalscorer the following season before joining Sutton United. Also played for Leytonstone and spent some time at Epsom Town during the second world war.
