John 'Jock' Woods hailed from Gourock where he represented Gourock and Greenock Schools, and he played Scottish Junior football for Morton Juniors and Benburb during the war.

A keen musician he joined the club in 1947 and was in and out of the team over the next seven seasons. He played left half in the team that won the Surrey Senior Cup in 1948 but never established himself as a permanent member of the side. A utility player he appeared in many different positions for the Dons.

An industrial chemist by trade.
