ATrond Andersen goal after 119 minutes was enough to give Wimbledon victory at Meadow Lane in this FA Cup third-round replay.

County had survived much pressure from their First Division visitors, but finally ran out of luck in the second period of extra time.

Norwegian midfielder Andersen popped up to score with a cracking header just as a penalty shoot-out was looming.

Marcus Gayle's accurate cross from the left side was met by Andersen, and his header powered past goalkeeper Darren Ward.

Culprit

Patrick Agyemang, who was in for the ill John Hartson had an excellent game for the Dons, and he set up three good openings for team-mates.

Jason Euell was the culprit on two occasions. Firstly his shot was deflected over the bar, and then from 12 yards out, he hit a weak shot straight at Ward.

Within two minutes of the re-start, Agyemang again created an opening from which Wimbledon should have profited.

Some neat footwork by the striker, followed by a low pass saw Damien Francis running in to connect with a first-time shot eight yards out, but goalkeeper Ward managed to get a touch to prevent the ball crossing the line.

Enlivened

With four minutes of normal time remaining Neal Ardley burst through to fire a powerful drive straight at Ward.

Extra-time was enlivened by the dismissal of Chris Willmott, after the Dons player picked up a second caution, before Gayle's cross was bulleted home by Andersen.

The result means Wimbledon will now travel to Middlesbrough to play in the fourth round of the competition.
