The Dons endured a fractious, niggly affair to keep their 100% record intact. Michael Berry set the tone for the afternoon by clattering Chris Gell on 17 minutes and the home side continue to harass and harry their opponents by both fair means and foul.

Berry has always enjoyed getting one over on the Dons, scoring for Chipstead in their victory in AFC Wimbledon?s first ever home match, but here he was lucky to stay on the pitch when he smashed through Gell again shortly afterwards.

Chances were few and far between in this fractious, scrappy encounter and the best first-half chance actually fell to the visitors. Mark Tompkins unleashed a drive from outside the area which beat Naisbitt, but cannoned to safety off the post. Ryan Gray went closest for the Dons with a free-kick that Wastell tipped over. Martin Randall was forced out of the game by a late tackle and was replaced by Joe Sheerin.

In the second half, Whyteleafe continue to dive into tackles that could politely be termed combative and the referee didn?t really clamp down on matters ? Berry managing to remain on the pitch after a lunge at Ryan Gray.
But the Dons remained calm and resolute and scored the only goal of the game as Matt Everard powered home a header from a Gray corner.

That was about it as far as football action went, but the introduction of ex-Don Andrew Petty livened up the final minutes. He was lucky to escape with only a yellow card after a dreadful knee-high challenge on Micky Woolner, and then appearing to stand on the prone player in the aftermath. Woolner was carried off and replaced by Steve Gibson. Ursell departed shortly afterwards having twisted his ankle falling over, but Wimbledon maintained their shape and discipline to secure the three points.
