Defender Aaron Downes scored a superb stoppage-time equaliser as Torquay salvaged a draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Torquay's on-loan Derby striker Callum Ball came close to breaking the deadlock with a superb 25-yard effort that struck the outside of the post.

Downes had deflected Harry Pell's shot past his own goalkeeper Martin Rice as Wimbledon took an 87th-minute lead.

But Torquay were not to be denied and Downes glanced a deft downward header past keeper Ross Worner to level.
