The Dons Ladies transformation took another step forward, as they scored 6 goals in Sussex, winning their first 3 points for the season.
Both Squads were full of changes from their encounter last season when Wimbledon lost narrowly 3-2.
The game started well, ebbing from end-to-end, with neither team getting hold of the game.
The Dons got the first initiative after 19 minutes, with Caz Bisson, striking a superb volley past Hassocks' keeper. It was a touch of genius from Bisson to see the opportunity, and showed why manager Lyons made her one of his summer targets.
The game continued to be tight, and ill-timed challenges rained in from both teams. Warnings to both sets of players, by referee Gary Manville-Dickens didn't stop the fouls, and the previously warned players became wary of even speaking. Dons Captain Libby Suchley became the first player to receive a very assertive warning from Manville-Atkins.
Just before the interval, in stoppage time, the Dons increased their lead, with Emma Keady heading the ball into the net from a well delivered corner.
The second period started with Hassocks making a couple of changes, and Wimbledon unchanged. The Dons with renewed confidence continued to apply pressure on Hassocks, and gained 3 successive corners, stretching the home sides defence further.
On 55 minutes the ball the Dons appeared to have scored again after another corner was not cleared by the defence; but controversially the home team Assistant would not allow the goal. This is the second week in a row that the Dons have been on the end of a controversial decision, but today it didn't affect the Dons' confidence. In fact it seemed to spur them on even more, and they took more control of the game.
On 60 minutes, further changes from the home side meant a change in formation; and as the home side tired dramatically, Wimbledon continued to apply pressure.
On 65 minutes, Dons' centre back Alysha Clements was booked, along with Dons Keeper Liane Tylee, both apparently for dissent.
On 67 minutes Allana Francis-Ashmail was replaced by Clare Hedley-Smith, as the Dons changed formation to apply even more pressure on Hassocks. This almost immediately brought reward, as Emma Keady scored her second of the match, from another poorly cleared corner. By now Wimbledon was totally in control of the game, and they looked very much a strong composed team.
Soon Wimbledon made more changes on 70 minutes as Toni Jones-Leach replaced Emma Keady, and Bianca Walker replaced the previously cautioned Alysha Clements after 72 minutes.
Hassocks looked like a spent force and on 75 minutes Caz Bisson added to her tally, with a superbly timed run, rounding the Hassocks keeper and tapping home from close range.
On 88 minutes, Wimbledon's attacking left back Cindy Colliver, made another good run forward, setting up Rebecca Sargent on the edge of Hassocks penalty area. Sargent was fouled yet again, and despite all the verbal warnings from the referee, the Hassocks defender walked away without even a caution. This didn't stop Dons' centre forward Cas Bisson, who struck the loose ball to bag her first hat-trick in Don's colours.
The Dons were now rampant, playing freely in the Hassocks half. They scored their 6th goal with the last kick of the game, with Caz Bisson scoring her fourth of the day.
In summary, Hassocks showed good spirit, and will pick up points this season, possibly from one of LSER's top four teams. Wimbledon on the other hand will be powerful, and clubs will need to be at their best if they want to take anything from them this season.
