<b>TOOK IT EASY. RESERVES BEATEN IN A FRIENDLY.
In a friendly game at Sutton Wimbledon Reserves went down to the local reserve side by four goals to one.
The game as a spectacle was uninteresting, the Dons with a weak side out taking matters easily.
However, they had the better of the first half, but Sutton attacked desperately after the interval.
The weakness in the Wimbledon team was evident at forward, where four of the Strollers eleven appeared, while at back Donald being injured in the early stages of the game, was little more than a passenger.
Jerome was There.
In the first quarter-of-an-bour the Sutton goal had some narrow ecapes, but Jerome acquitted himself well. Lucas broke through, but unfortunately over-ran the ball. Owen, too, when well placed, shot over the bar, while from a corner Gleeson headed against the bar. Jerome again saved well front Forbes and Gleeson a few minutes later, and a free-kick taken by Bosse, brought him to the ground.
First Blood.
Sutton, however, scored first with a soft goal, Buttock putting in a weak shot, the ball deflecting off Tapley into the net.
Five minutes later, Owen, getting well away, put across a splendid centre, which Forbes nodded into the net.
In the second half the Dona wasted time by too much cleverness, which was not reflected in front of goal. Forbes sent away by Taplsy, saw his centre square across the goal mouth wasted, no one being up to take it. Jerome was again kept busy, two centres from Tapley causing trouble, while good tries were made by Owen and Forbes.
Two far Taylor.
A good solo run by Bayliss led up to Sutton's second goal, that player netting with an oblique drive. The third was registered a minute later by Taylor from a centre by Buttock. The fourth was also netted by Taylor just before the end.
Sutton United 4. Wimbledon Res. 1.
Sutton deaerved to win, if only because their forwards were superior to those of the Dons. Weston, who re-appeared for Wimbledon at right back, after three months' rest, played a sterling game. while Lucas was the best of the forwards. Sutton were mest served by Bayliss, Jerome and Taylor.
