Achange of venue late on Saturday evening meant the fixture was opened up to spectators and the usual hardy Dons fans made the visit to Hertingfordbury Park, the home of Hertford Town FC.

New signings Anna Prawer and Georgia Robert were both in the line-up, alongside last season's Iola Cotter, Ellie Dorey, Rosie Russell - starting her tenth season - and under 18 Emilia Brewarder stepping up. Ex=Don Maddi Parsonson and last season's loanee from West Ham, Emily Taylor-Brown, woth two more triallists making up the eleven.

Stevenage won the Eastern Region League and Cup double unbeaten last season and are now one level below us, but were missing their leading scorer.

Dons are rebuilding but for most of the game the action was in the Stevebage half, although AFVW had to be aware of the speedy opposition attack. However, the lack of announced line-ups, the number of new playera and the un-numbered shirts makes it almost impossible for the average supporter to make a sensuble report.

But ... Triallist A opened the scoring after 13 minutes and Dory, we think, put us 2-0 up just before the break. By his time Lauren Allen, one of three Dons keepers, had replaced Prawer between the sticks. Robert received a frakly bang to rights yellow card, even in a friendly, for a rugby tackle as an attacker attempted to go past her. And that was the first 45 over.

Robert was replaced for the start of the second half by Triallist C, which was more even, although Brewarder increased our lead, only for one of the new Stevenage signings to take advantage of a mix-up at the back to make it 3-1. Lola Lindsay-Fynn and ex-Chatham Town keeper Simone Eligon came on for the last 30 minutes and soon after a gaggle of triallists came on to make their case. With five minutes to go Triallist A got her second and the Dons' fourth to seal a decent result.
