AMonday afternoon kick-off saw Wimbledon take on the professionals from The Cottage. Head and Picton were unavailable, their places taken respectively by Digweed and Green.

The London Challenge Cup was another invitational competition, with most of the professional London clubs and selected amateur clubs competing, with Wimbledon invited on the back of their Amateur Cup final appearance the preceding season.

Green took a knock in the first half and had to leave the field for ten minutes, and after the break he swopped places with Smith. By that time the damage had been done, Fulham snapping up their chances to go in 3-0 up at the break with two goals from Thomas and one from Jones.

The second half was all Wimbledon and Rhodes pulled one back seven minutes after the interval, after which the Dons stormed the Fulham goal, forcing ten corners and leading to some remarkable escapes for the visitors. With two minutes left Wallbanks scored on the break, the referee over-ruling the home side’s appeals that the ball hadn’t crossed the line.
