Having made five appearances for Barnsley in the Football League, Hugh joined Wimbledon soon after the start of the 1964/65 season on a two month trial, and after several games in the reserves was offered a contract for the remainder of the season. Played regularly for the reserves at inside-left, but had limited opportunities in the first team. Joined Ashford Town at the end of the 1965/66 season and later played for Margate.

Hugh Cochrane (born 9 February 1943) is a Scottish professional footballer who played as an inside forward. Born in Glasgow, he played junior football for Dennistoun Waverley before signing for Dundee United in 1961. He was released in 1963 without having appeared in the first team. He signed for Barnsley in August 1963, making five Football League appearances. After leaving Barnsley, Cochrane played non-League football for Wimbledon, Ashford Town and Margate.
