Paul Denny
(1977/78 - 1980/81)
Apprenticed to Southend United after leaving school, midfielder-cum-striker Paul Denny made his Fourth Division debut for the Shrimpers in September 1976. Allen Batsford secured his signature the following summer as he began to build a squad for the club's Football League debut season. However it was only after Dario Gradi became manager in January 1978 that the perm haired forward began to win a regular place in the side.

He eventually made more than one hundred appearances for the Dons and was an influential figure in the club's 1978-79 promotion campaign, before being released in August 1981. Deciding to quit the game, he moved to the west coast of America where he became a successful restaurant owner.
