Jack Wallis continued at left-half, allowing Ron Head to return to the forward line and Jim Smith returned in place of Vic Bird.

Stung the previous week, the Dons were involved in another game of ten goals, this time the glut of goals fell to them rather than their opponents. They pressed from the start and in the first twenty minutes Wycombe hardly made it across the half-way line. The crossbar or post were rattled no less than six times during this time, and Williams in the visitors’ goal made several good saves. Freddie Gauntlett finally found the net after a quarter of an hour after Harry Stannard had cleverly back-heeled him in on goal, then Williams’ luck ran out as he saved Stannard’s header from Gauntlett’s corner only for it to fall straight to Head, who made it two. The rest of the first half was more even and Wanderers went close on a couple of occasions, through Stroud and McCullum, but there was no further scoring.

The second-half goal riot started straight from the kick-off as the forwards advanced in a line and Billy Laws put in a cross that Head drove against the crossbar and as the ball bounced down Gauntlett ran in to score his second. A defensive error five minutes later let in McCullum for what would be no more than a consolation. Head got the next, again hitting the underside of the crossbar, but this time the ball finding the net. Laws got the next, the best of the game, after Stannard had bamboozled several defenders before crossing in for the winger to smash the ball in. Stannard then got his customary score before a pair from Head took his personal total to four and the team’s to nine.
