Wimbledon
Harry Stannard (2), Freddie Gauntlett, Roy Henderson

An unchanged side made the trip to Clapton’s east London Spotted Dog ground.

Complete master from the early stages, Wimbledon took the lead through Freddie Gauntlett in the twenty-fifth minute after the keeper had parried Harry Stannard’s header. Five minutes later Stannard ran through to get a goal of his own and a minute before the break Lowman’s desperate attempt to keep Stannard from reaching Jim Smith’s cross only resulted in an own goal.

Clapton improved in the second half and Solari reduced the deficit after a brilliant solo run. Arthur Maggs and Pat Field’s stubborn defence kept the visitors on top and Stannard got his second, the Dons fourth, twenty minutes into the second period. Roy Henderson completed the scoring.
